Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GroupTrip (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GroupTrip.

2. Service Description

GroupTrip is a group travel planning platform that enables users to collaboratively plan trips, propose destination options, and make collective decisions through a ranked-choice voting system. Features include trip creation, member invitations, category management, option proposals, and Borda count vote tallying.

3. User Accounts

  • Age requirement: you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
  • Account security: you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Accurate information: you agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
  • One account per person: you may not create multiple accounts or transfer your account to another person without our prior written consent.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, including mass trip invitations to people who have not consented.
  • Harass or abuse other users, including through trip content, option names, or any other feature.
  • Upload illegal content or content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures, access other users' accounts, or interfere with the Service's infrastructure.
  • Scrape or automate access to the Service in a way that degrades performance for other users.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create within GroupTrip, including trip names, destination options, categories, and votes. By using the Service, you grant GroupTrip a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your trip members.

You may export or delete your content at any time through Settings or by contacting us. We do not claim ownership over your trip data.

6. Payment Terms

  • Pro plan: the Pro subscription is billed monthly. Pricing is displayed at the point of purchase on the upgrade page.
  • Payment processor: payments are handled by Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Terms of Service.
  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation: you may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
  • Price changes: we may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price.

7. Free Tier Limitations

The free tier of GroupTrip includes the following limitations:

  • 1 active trip at a time.
  • 3 members per trip (including the trip creator).

Upgrading to Pro removes these limits. We reserve the right to adjust free tier limits with reasonable notice.

8. Service Availability

GroupTrip is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime or availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, infrastructure issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to minimise downtime and communicate planned maintenance in advance.

9. Termination

  • By us: we may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. We will provide notice where reasonably practicable.
  • By you: you may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is permanent and removes your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Effect of termination: upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GroupTrip and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to GroupTrip in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice within the application. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
